Tile joint epoxy

Tile joint epoxy grouting

Tiles do not leak. The joints between them do. Ordinary cement grout absorbs water, wears out and turns black. Epoxy grout does not absorb water, so the joint stops being the weak line in the floor.

You probably need this if…

  • Tile joints turned black, powdery or hollow
  • Water seeping down even though the tiles look fine
  • Joints in the bathroom staying wet long after use
  • Fungus growing along the joint lines
Why it happens

What causes it

The same wet patch can come from different places, and each one needs a different fix. This is what we look for on site.

  • 01

    Cement grout absorbs water

Normal grout is porous. Every wash and every rain, it takes water in and passes it to the bed below.

  • 02

Joint width too small or unfilled

Tiles laid tight against each other leave no proper joint to fill, so it cracks at the first movement.

  • 03

    Cleaning acids

Strong acids used to clean tiles eat the cement joint away much faster than the tile.

How we do it

Our tile joint epoxy process

Step by step, in this order. Nothing is skipped to finish a day early.

  1. 01

    Rake out the old joint

The worn cement grout is cut and raked out to a proper depth, and the joint is cleaned and dried.

  2. 02

    Fill with epoxy grout

The joint is filled with epoxy grout, pressed in fully so there is no gap left under the surface.

  3. 03

    Clean the tile faces

Excess grout is removed from the tile faces before it sets, and the floor is cleaned.

  4. 04

    Curing

The floor is kept dry for the curing period, after which the joints take water, cleaning and traffic normally.
