Wall dampness

Wall dampness and seepage treatment

Damp walls are a symptom, not the problem. Painting them again is money spent twice. We first find where the water is coming from, stop it, let the wall dry, and then make the surface good.

You probably need this if…

  • Paint blistering or peeling in patches
  • White salt-like powder on the wall surface
  • A damp patch that is bigger during the rainy season
  • Wall feels cold and wet to touch near the skirting
Why it happens

What causes it

The same wet patch can come from different places, and each one needs a different fix. This is what we look for on site.

  • 01

Water from the terrace or sunshade

Water entering the slab above travels down inside the wall and comes out a floor below.

  • 02

    Leaking bathroom or kitchen

A wet area on the other side of the wall pushes moisture through the masonry.

  • 03

    Concealed pipe leakage

A slow leak in a concealed line keeps one patch permanently damp, whether it rains or not.

  • 04

    Rising damp from the plinth

Ground water rises through the masonry when the damp-proof course is missing or has failed.

  • 05

    External wall exposure

A wall that takes the driving rain directly, with cracked plaster or open joints, soaks water in from outside.

How we do it

Our wall dampness process

Step by step, in this order. Nothing is skipped to finish a day early.

  1. 01

    Find the source

We check both sides of the wall, the area above it and any pipes running inside, so the treatment matches the actual cause.

  2. 02

    Open and stop the entry

Cracked plaster is opened, the crack or joint is filled, and where the source is a leak inside the wall, that is repaired first.

  3. 03

    Treat the wall

Depending on the cause we apply a chemical treatment to the affected face, outside for driving rain and inside for seepage, so moisture cannot pass through again.

  4. 04

    Replaster and finish

The wall is replastered where needed and left to dry before putty and paint, so the new paint stays on.

What is included

  • Inspection of both faces of the wall and the area above it
  • Crack opening, filling and sealing
  • Chemical treatment on the correct face of the wall
  • Replastering of the treated portion
