Bathroom and kitchen waterproofing
Bathrooms leak quietly. Water gets into the sunken portion, sits there, and shows up months later on the ceiling below or on the outside wall. The treatment is simple, but it has to be done before the tiles go on.

You probably need this if…
- Damp patch on the ceiling of the room below a bathroom
- Wet wall outside the bathroom or kitchen
- Water seeping near the WC or the floor trap
- Tiles sounding hollow when tapped
What causes it
The same wet patch can come from different places, and each one needs a different fix. This is what we look for on site.
- 01
Sunken portion holding water
The filled portion under the bathroom floor soaks up whatever leaks past the tiles and keeps it there, against the slab.
- 02
Pipe joints and floor traps
The junctions where pipes pass through the slab are the weakest points, and are usually left unsealed.
- 03
Wall and floor junction
The corner where the wall meets the floor moves slightly and cracks. Water follows that line into the wall.
- 04
Old, worn tile joints
Cement joints between tiles wear out and soak up water like a sponge, right through to the bed below.
Our bathroom & kitchen process
Step by step, in this order. Nothing is skipped to finish a day early.
- 01
Clear and clean
For an existing bathroom, tiles and the filling in the sunken portion are removed. For new work, we start on the bare slab.
- 02
Seal the pipe openings
Every pipe passing through the slab is packed and sealed, because these openings are the usual entry point.
- 03
Cove the corners
A rounded fillet is packed all around the floor-to-wall junction, so water cannot sit in a sharp corner.
- 04
Waterproof coating
Two chemical coats are applied over the slab and taken up the walls to the required height, so splash water is also covered.
- 05
Water test and refill
Water is held in the sunken portion and checked, then the filling and the tile work can go ahead safely.
What is included
- Treatment of the sunken portion, floor and wall junctions
- Sealing around every pipe and floor trap
- Coating carried up the walls to splash height
- Water test before the area is closed
- Coordination with your tile mason so the work is not held up
