Why this is the job Visakhapatnam needs
Vizag is the one city we work in where height is the main factor. A house terrace takes rain falling on it; an eighth-floor terrace takes rain thrown at it horizontally, hitting the parapet, the coping and the junction between them far harder than the slab itself. Add salt-laden sea air, which works into the concrete and reaches the reinforcement faster than inland air does, and ordinary cement plaster on an exposed parapet fails early. Water that gets in that high up also has a long way to travel inside the building before anyone sees a stain, so by the time it is reported it has been going on a while.
What the work involves
We treat the parapet and the coping as the main job, not the trim at the edge of it. The junction is coved so there is no hard corner for driven rain to work at, the coping is sealed across its top and both faces, and the coating carries up the inner face of the parapet rather than stopping where the slab ends. Access is arranged properly before we start. This is not work to be done leaning over a parapet. Buildings cut into the hill slopes get their back walls looked at as well, since water there is coming out of the ground uphill of them.
